15 touching movies about first love that will bring you to tears

In the mood to crawl under the blanket, order some goodies and watch a movie that will allow you to weep to your heart’s content because of a beautiful love story? Especially for such an occasion, I have compiled a list of very beautiful and tender pictures about the agony of first love.

There is something magical in movies about first love. When you watch them, your heart starts beating a little faster, a smile appears on your face and tears come to your eyes, because you yourself are immersed in the memories of your first love and the feelings that filled you then.

I suggest you get nostalgic for your “golden days” and arrange yourself a romantic movie marathon. I’ve collected for you a list of the best, in my opinion, movies about first crush!

Romeo + Juliet

There is no sadder story in the world… This movie is a new reading of W. Shakespeare’s classic play with a young Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role. I’m sure you already know the plot of this world-famous drama: the heirs of two feuding families fall irrevocably in love with each other and challenge the long-standing enmity of their parents. This work has been screened many times, but I am sure that this particular version is the most vivid and dynamic.

In Romeo + Juliet, the Capulettis and Montagues are warring clans of mobsters, and their fights look like choreographed performances! Romeo walks around in armor and Hawaiian shirts, and Juliet in airy romantic dresses. In short – very fancy, highly recommended for viewing.

Dirty Dancing

The main character of this movie is 17-year-old Frances Hausman. The girl comes on vacation with her family and meets there a charismatic dancer Johnny. When his dance partner runs into trouble, Frances agrees to secretly fill in for her to help Johnny prepare for an important performance. In the process, of course, Frances falls in love with the handsome dancer and runs into a lot of trouble because of it…

The movie attracts not only by the plot, but also by the abundance of daring dance scenes and colorful outfits. For 30 years, “Dirty Dancing” remains a classic and a hallmark of Hollywood, and that’s worth a lot.

Hi Julie!

Bryce and Julie are neighbors and go to the same high school, so they see each other every day. The first time they met, Judy decided that Bryce was her destiny and her true love. The girl does not pay attention to the ridicule of her peers and openly demonstrates her sympathy. But Bryce himself did not like the sticky neighbor at once, so her signs of attention at first embarrass and annoy him.

This story tells about how our feelings are transformed over the years, what stages a childhood crush goes through and how it can be influenced by adults. “Hello, Julie!” perfectly captures the tenderness and excitement of first love experiences and leaves behind a sweet aftertaste.

When I Become a Giant

The protagonist of this story is Petya Kopeikin, an unassuming boy and a reckless prankster, whose pranks are known to the whole school. No one guesses that behind all this bravado hides a shy young man, sincerely in love with his classmate and neighbor Masha. Petya helps her and her lover Kolya at school: he sends notes and messages. At the same time Petya secretly composes poems for Masha, which he passes off as Kolya’s creations. But the day comes when the truth comes out.

This movie will make you think of that charismatic bully, with whom the whole school was in love. And maybe you were too?

It’s good to be quiet

At the center of the story is an introverted teenager named Charlie. Plunged into depression after the loss of his best friend and favorite aunt, Charlie desperately seeks an outlet for his emotions. By fate, he meets Patrick, to whom he confides his pain and worries, and his sister Sam, with whom Charlie falls unrequitedly in love. New friends bring him into their company and try to help the guy to start socializing with his peers again.

Charlie does not manage to get along with everyone at once: it is not so easy to get out of depression, and love for a girl who is already dating someone else gives rise to additional complexes. Nevertheless, thanks to the support of his new friends, Charlie gradually finds the strength to understand the causes of his depression, get help and start moving forward.

You never dreamed…

The main characters are schoolchildren Roma and Katya, who fall in love with each other. But their relationship is jeopardized by a long-standing conflict between their parents. The fact is that Katya’s mother was once in love with Roma’s father, but they could not be together. After many years, the wounds of the parents still have not healed, so their children will have to find a way to keep peace in the family and their love.

Interesting fact: this movie is based on the story “Roman and Yulka” by Galina Scherbakova. The writer based her work on William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”.

Just Friends

Dilute the glass with a light comedy! In this movie, Ryan Reynolds plays chubby teenager Chris, who is in love with his best friend Jamie. He never dares to confess his feelings to her, and fate divorces them after high school. After 10 years, Chris returns to his native New Jersey already slim, rich and successful man, and, meeting Jamie, realizes that he is still in love. It turns out that Jamie also liked Chris in high school, though she didn’t realize it. But because of all the changes that have happened to him, Chris is worried: suddenly Jamie is only interested in him because of his success and looks.

This comedy is perfect for an evening when you don’t want to analyze much of what’s happening on the screen, but are in the mood to laugh heartily and enjoy the atmosphere of the 2000s.

If I Stay

The plot centers on seventeen-year-old Mia Hall, who has been playing the cello since childhood and loves classical music, despite the fact that her parents are rock musicians. She is in love with a boy named Adam. Unfortunately, together with her family the girl gets into a car accident: her parents are killed, and Mia herself falls into a coma. Now she faces a choice: to die and find peace with her parents or to find someone who will convince her that life is worth fighting for.

Be warned, you will need lots and lots of handkerchiefs to view this beauty

A Tale of First Love

The main characters – high school students Olya and Mitya – meet at a sports class and immediately fall in sympathy with each other. Suddenly Olya’s mother dies, the girl closes in on herself and stops going to school. Mitya’s family convinces her to move in with them. Mitya’s care and support return Olya’s interest in life and studies. However, gossip about the cohabitation of two students begins to spread in the school, classmates laugh at the couple, Olya and Mitya begin to quarrel often, and it becomes difficult for the lovers to understand their own feelings.

In my opinion, the movie shows very well the gradual development of feelings between the characters. Their mutual offenses, quarrels and reconciliations will remind you of yourself in school.

Dear John

High school girl Savannah and young soldier John get acquainted when he goes on a short vacation and comes to his father, who lives on the ocean shore. The young people fall in love and make a promise to each other: when John is discharged from the army and returns home, they will definitely get married, but until then they will communicate by letters. However, circumstances force John to stay in the army and break his vow, and their correspondence with Savannah slowly comes to naught.

I note that the love line in this movie is calm and gentle, and the plot is not particularly dynamic. “Dear John” leaves behind a feeling of loneliness and slight sadness – that’s the beauty of it. If you have a desire to think and suffer a little (just kidding!), then this recommendation is definitely for you.

Blame the stars

The main character, Hazel, is sick with cancer. Although the disease has temporarily receded, the girl feels no joy. She attends a support group, where one day she meets Augustus Waters and immediately falls in love with him. Augustus and Hazel begin to meet and gradually realize that the meaning of life can be found at the most unexpected moment.

After watching “Blame the Stars” I was left with a warm, tender impression. The whole movie I watched in one breath, and sometimes on a whimpering…

Bridge to Terabithia

The main character is a high school student named Jesse Aarons. He has been training hard all summer to become the fastest runner by the time he returns to school. However, at the competition he is unexpectedly bypassed by a new girl named Leslie Burke. Their relationship begins with rivalry and mutual ridicule, but gradually Leslie and Jesse realize that they have much more in common than they seemed. Despite their differences and frequent arguments, they become close friends and one day accidentally find a bridge that takes them to a magical world filled with amazing adventures and dangers…

“Bridge to Terabithia” I would call a touching fairy tale. This movie will take you back to your childhood and is sure to leave you with the fondest memories.

It’s the other way around

Schoolboy Andrei Loskutov believes that true love always comes unexpectedly and resembles a bright flash, and that the relationship with his beloved has always been perfect, it is important to trust your intuition. Quite by chance he gets a chance to test this theory in practice.

Andrew falls in love with a pretty peer, which he meets on the street, and decides that he needs to immediately get married and move out of his parents. But it turns out to be not so easy.

Three meters above the sky

And here comes the movie that I sobbed through the whole 8th grade “Three Meters Above Heaven” is a story about two high school students who belong to different worlds. Babi is a rich girl who grows up in a hothouse environment all her life, kind and innocent, but with a strong character. Hache is a daring young man, impulsive, reckless, who loves the feeling of risk and danger. Their chance meeting leads to a series of tragedies and the beginnings of their first great love.

In case you watch this movie and then don’t know how to move on, I warn you: there is a second part. It’s also a glass, but at least with the hope for a happy ending.

Swedish Love Story

This is a romantic drama about the touching first love of two teenagers, Anika and Per. Per works part-time at a garage as a mechanic’s assistant and rides a moped. Anika is a model student who is into fashion and is not at all interested in what her peers are talking about. Together, Anika and Per break all the rules, get into various mischief and bond while solving problems that arise along the way.

I started watching this movie because I’ve always loved the aesthetic of 70’s youth: leather jackets, motorcycles, and beautiful dreadful high schoolers doing crazy and sometimes stupid things. If you’re like that, be sure to put this movie on your watchlist!
